Policy is the main driver of change, uniting governments, corporations, and organisations under a common goal, and a legally binding promise to decarbonise. Setting an effective policy is the best way to enforce deadlines and drive positive change before it’s too late.

Policies can be difficult to set and complex to enforce, the legislation needs to ensure that businesses can stay competitive and profitable during and after the transition to clean energy and that in decarbonising one country, we are not simply pushing emissions onto another.

Andy Burnham

Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, is a renowned and respected politician, leader, and decision maker with nation-wide influence and a key role to play in the decarbonisation of one of Britain’s major cities. Andy has a proven track record of support for the low emissions movement and for speaking out on the necessity of collaboration in tackling the climate crisis.

Paloma Costa Oliveira

Paloma is a climate activist and an advisor on social-environmental rights, including those of indigenous peoples. From 2018 to 2020, as part of the youth-led organization Engajamundo, she coordinated the Climate Working Group and the youth delegations to COP24, COP25 and UNLAC Climate Week.

Fredrick Royan

Fredrick Royan is the Vice President and Global Leader of Sustainability and Circular Economy at Frost & Sullivan. Their practice covers research and consulting in water and wastewater treatment technologies, waste recycling and related service markets. Frost & Sullivan are currently focused on Sustainability and the Circular Economy, as well as Digital Transformation across the Smart Water Management and a Smart Waste Recycling Industry.

Maria Vassilakou

Maria Vassilakou was the first green vice mayor of Vienna and city councillor for urban development, traffic, climate protection, energy planning and citizen participation.
She strongly advocates sustainable urban development and gentle mobility. Maria supports the expansion of public transportation in accordance with her motto: “”Residents of Vienna should no longer have to rely on their own cars”.
